The Product (idea);
It all starts with an idea! This is the heart and sole of what you will be pursuing in your journey. Every multi million dollar product started out as a good idea. Most good ideas don’t make it to production because people assume it’s too hard to produce a product and just don’t try.

Make some samples!
Develop your idea and make some samples if you can. If your product is too difficult to make on your own, find a local sample maker to make it for you and remember to make a few samples so you always have one to keep and a few to send out to prospective factories. Sometimes drawings will work if it’s too complex to make on your own samples. Remember it’s always best to have a sample.

Be sure to spec out all your materials. Many factories will use sub standard materials and give you a low cost and you will be stuck with inferior product you can’t sell. This is a real bad situation because sometimes you don’t even know this till its too late and you have a warehouse full of scrap.

Factories in China need as much guidance as possible and it’s much easier to copy a sample than create it from a drawing or description. It’s worth the extra time and money to develop what you can here at home and produce it over there in China. Later you will advance to production samples. These are samples made by the actual factory you have chosen for your product in China and will be discussed later.
